History of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame

In 2002, the New England Basketball Hall of Fame inducted its first class.  Other classes have been inducted in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2009.  The next Induction Class will be held in 2012.

There are 30 categories for players, coaches and teams in each class. Awards are given to inductees in 12 special categories such as: administrator, contributor, media, military, the hearing impaired, disabled, and Special Olympics-Basketball.

The New England Basketball Hall of Fame’s three highest awards are the "Ron S. Perry Award" for inductees in two or more categories, the "Scholar-Athlete Award" for those whose outstanding career in basketball lead to outstanding careers and accomplishments off the court and, the "Scholar-Athlete Program of Excellence" that recognizes institutions whose programs promote the importance of accomplishment on the court and in the classroom.
