June 23, 2010 marked a historic day for the Institute for International Sport. The Announcement Reception for the 2011 World Scholar-Athlete Games and World Youth Peace Summit was held at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Distinguished guests included Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA), Congressman John Larson (CT), and Alan Hassenfeld, Chairman of the 2011 World Scholar-Athlete Games.  In addition, dozens of Ambassadors and Members of Congress attended.

The event celebrated the Games and Summit ideals and encouraged those in attendance to spread the word across their states and countries. Attendees were asked to also nominate participants and host Peace Walks and Peace Lectures in their communities. The evening concluded with a special recognition to the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). The Power of Good Award was presented to the NSHSS in recognition of their great work with high school students and their commitment to the programs of the Institute for International Sport.
